The Lightning LS-218

About a week ago, up on the second floor of the Autodesk headquarters here in San Francisco, we witnessed a new benchmark in the electric vehicle industry. The LS-218, Lightning Motorcycles‘ record breaking, all-electric road bike is now available to the public, and the very first customers were present to receive the keys to their exciting new machine; a veritable rocket on wheels.

Outerwear 2014

Last winter, our production team had the opportunity to shoot assets as part of a cutting edge website for Dick’s Sporting Goods’ Outerwear collection in the brisk and beautiful environment of Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. Setting up our camera equipment on the snowy slopes of Whistler, we were able to look out over the valley down to the lake below where little bits of green could still be seen despite the dancing snow flurries propelled by icy gusts of wind.

Where Eagles Dare

“To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…” – Woodrow Wilson

Respect The Dead

Thousands of years ago, long before Cristoforo Colombo sailed across the Atlantic or the Spanish conquered the Aztec Empire, the great metropolitan expanse of Tenochtitlan-Tlatelolco, now known as Mexico City, was already established as one of the largest populated cities in the world.  At that time, the city was home to more than 40 different paper mills that manufactured the parchment from the inner bark of the Amacuahuitl, a species of fig tree native to the area.  Paper was of great value in prehispanic Mesoamerica, not only used for books and manuscripts, but also played an important role in various religious rituals of Aztec culture.

Skate or DIY w/ Sid Enck Jr.

On a chilly morning in late September, we follow Sid Enck Jr, a team rider of Society Skate Shop in San Carlos, CA under a freeway overpass to a slab of cold cement. The night hangs on, wrapping it’s blanket of fog tightly around itself in defiance of the sun, which has just begun to peak out over the nearby hills on the outskirts of Silicon Valley. Nearby residents slowly begin to rouse, vaguely aware of the presence of the new stranger and his wooden transport.

The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, F. Warren Hellman‘s great philanthropic gift to the city of San Francisco, is set to kick off today at Golden Gate Park.  The three day long, free festival is always a boat-load of fun and this year we’re more excited to attend than ever.  With over 100 different bands, on 7 different stages throughout the park, the festival literally has a little bit of something for everyone.  The lineup this year seems to be the best yet, and there is one band in particular that we can’t wait to see again.

2nd Annual Motorcycle Film Festival

Last weekend we had the pleasure of attending the 2nd Annual Motorcycle Film Festival in Brooklyn, NY. While we absolutely love any excuse to go to New York, this year’s festival was especially exciting for us, because our video, Why I Ride “Passion At Work” was picked as an official selection! We packed our bags, hopped on a plane with our buddy Matthew Work who was featured in the video, and flew across the country to take part in this awesome event!

This Is The Life

Everyone loves a great story.  In fact, storytelling has become the next big buzzword in professional circles, and some folks even believe that storytelling is the number one strategic business tool in the market today. The Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice recently conducted a study on brands’ use of plot development in their commercials and found that regardless of the content of the ad, it was the structure of the content that people were really attracted to.
